So Apropos
Saw death on a sunny snowFor every life, forego the parable. Seek the light, my knees are cold. (Running home, running home) Go find another lover; To bring and- to string along. With all your lies, you're still very lovable. I toured the light, so many foreign roads For Emma, forever ago. |

literature in my bones - a world of deception
Shakespeare creates a world of deception within Othello. It is one based on two main factors of deception - immovable trust and a merging of appearances with truth. The constant manipulation of the truth to be merged with the false creates a half-truth, and it is a string of half-truths that Iago uses to create a "web" to catch not only Cassio, but most anyone who believes in "honest Iago", especially Othello. This world of deception is brought into life through a dimensional presentation, that not only are the characters interacting with Iago decieved, but also the audience. What are Iago's true motives and intentions? Why is he after Othello's blood? His constant switch of reasons leaves us, the audience, in a constant frenzy of confusion until we ourselves learn to accept and understand his true nature of a deceiver. His role of a 'playwright' in the play is characterized by a god-like control over the characters, and this control is the main creator of this world of deception.Argh. I can't study. Anyway, weird paragraph of trying to infuse the idea of Iago as a playwright into one of the branches of why Othello is a tragedy (world of deception). Quite badly written (don't kill me Carine!) And, well, because Marc Lim's template is confusing me. I can't think in such a structured way. So excuse me if I start typing more study junk here, cause I blog too much, but if I start blogging my homework out, well, it actually helps me. (Remember my stupid History essay I typed out on my previous blog. geh...) I'm so intrigued by Iago. He's like the Othello version of the devil. (spencer has a small tongue. lawl.) (ew. Carine's dp is gross.)
